trailer hitch wiring

A trailer company installed a class 2 hitch that was removed from my 2004 Cadillac Deville to a 2007 Cadillac DTS. After they installed the hitch, they told me that I must return the car to the dealer to have the wiring done--I called the dealer and was told there was no part number for the harness and they could not help. Cadillac customer service has been of no value. It's most frustrating--can anybody out there help?? It appears that no one wants to be held liable if something happens to the electrical system--computer,etc.
