the cockpit is half the size of the boat and if during a heavy summer rain or worse case a good stern poop. It would take a long time for the water to go down that 1" hole. also at motor water constantly bubbles up and the cockpit is awash after an hour. I figure a plug would stop that but more comes in than goes out while sailing.
