This is a 17 foot Cape Cod Cat boat that my father built circa 1968.
-Built primarily of plywood (high quality marine grade old growth plywood--you can't buy this stuff anymore) and mahogany with bronze fittings
-Cockpit can seat up to 6 people
-Because of the Cape Cod Cat design, it is very beamy and stable, and is easy to handle by one person
-8 horse Yamaha engine on bracket on the stern. The engine has probably <10 hours on it and was just serviced
-Original sail, which is in good condition and is under a cover
-We had it hauled out and refitted and repainted about 3 years ago, so it looks great.
I was initially excited about inheriting this boat, but I need to face facts that a boat like this does not fit into my life currently. It is a great day sailer. I am basically selling it for the cost of the engine, with the boat thrown in for free. I hope I can sell it to someone who will appreciate it and take proper care of it--this boat has a huge amount of sentimental value to me and it kills me to sell it.
Please note that this boat is not trailerable and will need to stay in the water (wood boats shrink when they are stored out of the water).
It's currently in Mission Bay in San Diego.
