Boat Reviews By Owners
1988 -- 38' 5" CHRIS CRAFT
Model: 385 Stinger
Cockpit: Even with a long nose,, the view is good, if standing, the drop out bolsters sit too low to see over the dash from a seated position. I'd like more room in the cockpit also, but the transmisions make the engine room firewall about 3 feet longer into the cockpit. Huge sunpad easily holds 4 adults.
Cabin: Cabin is GREAT! I live aboard in summer. Stand up headroom all way to the circular dinette. v berth is a bit tight for two adults. Cavernous head with hand held shower.
Construction: I haven't found any major stress issues,,just a few small cracks, which may even be from contact with pilings over the years.
Handling: It smashes ANY waves in the Chesapeake Bay. 5 footers are NO PROBLEM. Very stable at speed due to almost 10 ft. beam widths. Very little tab input needed, even out of the hole.
Engine Room: twin 420's and TRS drives gets about 60 mph. I'd like more. Perhaps 750's or so could get into the 70 mph range. It's a BIG , HEAVY boat to go that fast realy.
General Comments: Summer live aboard,,cruising the Chesapeake Bay,, and Delaware River, from yacht club to club,, or to coves for swimming. Even a couple poker runs lately.
Email Address: Sure,, would love to hear from others with this boat
