Boat Reviews By Owners

2002 -- 20' 5" SEACRAFT

Model: 21 Open Fisherman

Cockpit: Decent sized area behind the helm with an oversized in deck livewell. Works well for trolling. Raised front casting deck in the bow is open and obscured, great for fly fishing.

Cabin: Center console storage could be better. Batteries & oil tank take up much of the dry storage room in center console.

Construction: Here lie the problems. I've expereinced significant floor cracks in the deck from all points where mechnical fasteners attach (T-top, console, leaning post, etc). Evidently, this is a very common problem with this year and model of SeaCrafts. Had cracks filled and non-skid touched up once after 2 years of use through warranty. New cracks are now present again and will need to be addressed. Deck is not soft, spongy, or springy though.

Handling: Exceptional soft, cushioned ride and performance in 2-3 chop. Rides like a boat 4 feet larger with deep-V Potter hull design. Boat can be a little wet in strong beam sea/wind, but no more than other CC boats of the same size. Cruises at 30 knots no problem and tops out close 40 knots.

Engine Room: 200 Mercury Optimax. Great motor with great gas mileage (+/-3.0 MPG @ cruise). Not as quiet as a fourstroke though. Only problem after 350 hours was a bad starter soielnoid that was replaced under warranty.

General Comments: Fishing, fishing & more fishing.
