Boat Reviews By Owners

2006 -- 21' 6" ROBALO

Model: R227

Cockpit: Excellent layout - plenty of room - comfortable for cruising, skiing and fishing. Helm visibility is good - flip up helm seat bottom very handy. Dash layout easy to use - radio would be better higher on dash.

Cabin: Tons of storage everywhere. Head is fine for in frequent use - nicely finished. Only improvment would be to mount main bimin support to deck instead of top rail of windshield - when top is not in use and stowed upright - tends to shake windshield frame in rough stuff. What could be better? No cup holders in bow area. Fishbox in deck would be nice. Top and enclosure well thought out.

Construction: Very solid and stable. Flip down transom seat very solid and well designed. Walk thru transom great for boarding at dock. Swim ladder well thought out. Access to mechanicals outstanding - flip it up and everything is right there.

Handling: Handles rough water very well - always feel safe and secure. Hull design & steep deadrise takes a bit longer to get on plane. Cruises great at 3500 and up.

Engine Room: Yamaha F250 4 stroke. Nice engine - plenty of power. Starts great - runs great. Not quite as quiet at cruise as I had hoped.

General Comments: Use it for general cruising in and around Les Cheneaux Islands in L Huron, water skiing, occasional salmon trolling. Great for touring visitors at our cottage. Frequent comments: 'wow - nice boat', 'seems bigger & wider than mine - really only 21.5' long?', 'would be perfect for our family' Really an excellent all round recreational boat.
