Boat Reviews By Owners

1999 -- 19' 6" WELLCRAFT

Model: 195 CC FISHERMAN

Cockpit: MY MODEL HAS 2 CAPT.'S CHAIRS, NO SEATING IN TRANSOM AREA. GOOD SWITCHES AND GAUGES, BUT NO SPEEDOMETER??

Cabin: NO CABIN, CENTER CONSOLE.

Construction: SEEMS TO BE WELL BUILT, BUT COVER OF STORAGE AREA UNDER FLOOR IN FRONT OF HELM CAVED IN. THAT STORAGE AREA HAS NO DRAIN, ANY WATER THAT SEEPS IN MUST BE MANUAL PUMPED OUT. NO CLEATS AMIDSHIP, PORT OR STARBOARD.

Handling: DOES NOT FEEL SAFE IN 3'+ CHOP, ESPECIALLY WHILE TURNING, OR COMING DOWN OFF A CHOP ON AN ANGLE (FEELS UNSTABLE). LOW BOW DESIGN ALLOWS PLENTY OF WATER TO ENTER BOAT IN ROUGH SEAS. BOAT AND HULL DESIGN BETTER SUITED FOR BAYS AND LAKES, ALTHOUGH BOAT LOOKS LIKE A MINI-OFFSHORE RIG.

Engine Room: MINE'S POWERED BY 115 JOHNSON SEAHORSE 2-STROKE. TAKES THE BOAT TO ABOUT 35MPH, WHICH FEELS DANGEROUS IN ROUGH SEAS. HOWEVER, BOAT FEELS SLOW IN FLAT WATER, WOULD RECOMMEND A 125 OR 150 HP.

General Comments: THE BOAT'S 19'6" LENGTH IS NOT REFLECTED ON THE INSIDE. SPACE IS WASTED ON A USELESS (BUT GOODLOOKING) PULPIT AND LOW-CUT TRANSOM WELL, WHICH ALLOWS TOO MUCH WATER IN WHILE ANCHORED IN ROUGH SEAS. BOAT IS SHARP-LOOKING, GOOD FOR FLATS, LAKE AND BAY FISHING. NOT BAD ON GAS W/ 115, BUT SLIGHTLY UNDER-POWERED.
