Boat Reviews By Owners
0 -- 20' 6" TAHOE
Model: Q6 Sport
Cockpit: Seems like the quality of boats has not improved over the years. This is a new boat and carpet is already peeling off the gunnels. After the first cruise a few fasteners already pulled loose. The windshield support rod is already loose with a stripped screw.
Cabin: The floor storage hatch cannot be opened all the way because of poor design. The passenger seat no matter how positioned blocks it to about 45% of an open position.
Construction: Fit and finish appear well below average. Console storage (glove box) door binds when opened. Wake board tower rattles severely. Upholstery staples look to be poorly attached and will in some cases are loose. Speakers in boat are mounted such that anyone sitting on rear bench seat will block speaker with their hips. Poor design.
Handling: Mercruiser 5.0 drive is very good unit. Easy to start and provides plenty of power. Boat is not living up to handling the power. Trim is very touchy. Boat tends to porpoise on all but the smoothest of water and is hard to trim out to eliminate the oscillation. The bilge pump fitting is placed too low (approx 3" over WL) on the side of the boat allowing flow back into the bilge when heeled over in slow turns or when idle in rough water. There is not riser loop in hose to pump to prevent backflow.
Engine Room: Appears to be leak from initial installation of Alpha drive. Boat has seep/leak of approx 1 gallon per hour while static. Bottom plug and Oil line plug both checked. Only other component would seem to be sterndrive as source.
General Comments: Other than a Cobalt I don't know where you can buy a quality built boat but what a cost difference. Even Searays at moderate cost have design and construction issues. You get what you pay for. In this case I got a lot of boat for the money....with a lot of warts on it.
