Boat Reviews By Owners
2004 -- 22' 6" CAMPION
Model: 622 WA
Cockpit: Good size cockpit and comfortable seats. Good fishing for two. However design of top and canvas frame has your center of gravity over the water with no handhold when moving to bow. Dicey in a sea
Cabin: This cabin had been soaking wet and molding due to a hull breach for the first 18 months after we bought it. I stored my equipment in it for the first year and most of it was ruined.
Construction: UNRESOLVED ISSUES
Boat was sold new as "on par with a Grady-White" by North Point Marina in Brigantine NJ. It wasn't. Campion claims the boat is self bailing. To this day it still collects water in the bilge from the deck to the point where the water level is just below the cabin floor when the bilge pump finally kicks on. Salt and wash water from the deck is constantly trapped in the low point of the bow creating mold and rendering the cabin useless for storage.
Handling: Handles fine up to 3' sea but feels like it wants to pitchpole in a following sea.
Engine Room: I have a Merc Saltwater 150 which has plenty of pop and great economy. Honestly it's the only thing I'm happy about with this purchase.
General Comments: I paid 35k for the pkg. new with trailer in 04.
I just saw a new 08 Campion 682 with 220 volvo penta for 36k.
Boy did I get ripped off.
