Boat Reviews By Owners

1984 -- 23' 0" BAYLINER

Model: Explorer 23

Cockpit: Cockpit is nice sized but lacks proper seating. Good room for fishing or swimming. Decent for picnicking...if you don't mind folding chairs or sitting.

Cabin: Nice layout for a small boat. We actually lived in ours for a summer. No complaints.

Construction: Boat seemed well built for a Bayliner. Transom was a bit soft due to fishing gear being screwed onto transom and not bedded proper. By no means a problem of Bayliner.

Handling: Handled poorly under power. Slow speeds were a disaster with high wind. Could turn pretty tight though. Handled large waves well. Just a bit "sloppy" under power.

Engine Room: Underpowered with the stock Volvo. Decent on gas if just "cruising" at 4-5 knots. Engine access was good.

General Comments: We mostly used her as a weekend play boat. Did the liveaboard thing for a bit and became very familiar with her. I would get another...for the right price.
