1998 -- 16' 0" GLASTRON
Model: GS 160
Cockpit: Typical bowrider, although being a 16 footer, space is a little limited. Vinyl held up strong at even 10 years old. Starboard (drivers) seat is a little cramped, forcing me to drive with a knee on the seat usually. With the seat swiveled to the side, it gets in the way of the throttle when putting it in reverse (a little annoying while docking).
Construction: Fiberglass held up well. Few surface cracks near the transom from trailering a 90hp outboard around. Good carpet, good vinyl. Have very little negative to say other than it's small size.
Biggest negative - the tinted plexiglass windows, although "stylish", are flimsy and cannot support much weight. Mine cracked under weight and Glastron no longer makes that window.
Handling: 90hp pulled a single skier up fairly easily. Boat is light and easy to handle. You barely know it's there when trailering - I trailered mine from Massachusetts to Michigan with ease.
Engine Room: Outboards tend to be noisier. Ended up upgrading to a different boat with an I/O to gain swim platform space and sun bench. Only place to "sun" in this boat is across the bench seat (which is okay, but not ideal).
General Comments: Great starter boat. Kids loved tubing and skiing on it. Built solid as very few flaws beyond normal wear for a boat from 1998.
