Boat Reviews By Owners
1990 -- 21' 0" QUICKSTEP
Model: Quickstep 21
Cockpit: The cockpit has nice high coamings, which makes it comfortable and safe for folks with small children.
Cabin: The cabin is good for overnighting, but the lack of headroom (under 5') makes it feel tight when you are awake. 7' V-berth and quaterberths are over 6' 6" and realatively comfortable.
Construction: Best built boat its size I've found. Very little cracking in gelcoat, and feels sturdy under foot. Dark green hull subject to fading. Some wood trim over the companion-way has cracked but other-wise it's been great!
Handling: This little boat loves a decent blow, but only if the rig is set up right; otherwise there is a lot of weather-helm. Reefed down this puppy scoots. I've sailed in heavy wind and waves, and enjoyed it.
Engine Room: I bought a new '04 Yamaha 6hp 4-stroke long-shaft in '05. Great motor and perfect for this boat. I haven't had a chance to sail her much since that '05 season though.
General Comments: I keep this boat at a slip. Getting the mast stepped and properly rigged would take too long to keep her at home and re-launch for an afternoon sail. Great for day sailing, good for weekending. My wife (pregnant at the time), 2 kids and I cruised on her for a week once and had a good time. Shallow enough and light enough to pull up close to a sandy beach. I'll miss her when she's gone, but am selling because I haven't had the time to sail her.
