Boat Reviews By Owners
1999 -- 24' 0" MONTEREY
Model: 242 Cruiser
Cockpit: The cockpit is extremely roomy, comfortable and well suited for serveral passengers. We have had many BBQ's to entertain quests and we have never had any complaints.
Cabin: The cabin has a home-like feeling. My wife particularly likes the look and feel of the galley (stove, frig, microwave, coffemaker, etc..). I regularly take weekend trips with my wife and 4 year old twins and we have never had a concern about space in the cabin.
Construction: In all honesty, this is my first boat and I am quite pleased with the strength of the Cruiser. We have never had a problem with it.
Handling: The Cruiser handles very well. We have used it both inland and offshore with equal results. We have run in to some pretty rough weather and the boat handled like a trooper.
Engine Room: The boat has a single prop 5.7 Volvo Penta i/o. The only problem I have had was that I recently had to have the water pump changed. Not bad if you ask me. I have been told that a dual prop is much more fuel efficient and gives better performance but that is just second hand information.
General Comments: As stated before, this is my first boat and I did quite a bit of research prior the purchase of this Cruiser. I researched areas such as other owners, mechanics, boat supply stores, boating magazines and Monterey themsleves. I have been nothing but pleased with all aspects of my Monterey. Thumbs up to Monterey and their customer service. The only way I would ever give up my 242 Cruiser is if I were getting a larger Monterey Cruiser.
