Boat Reviews By Owners
1974 -- 19' 6" COASTAL RECREATION
Model: Ensenada 20
Cockpit: Cockpit is 5'9" long with two of the most comfortable bench seats I have ever encountered on a small boat. Boat is tiller steered with outboard stern mounted tipup rudder. Draft with keel and rudder up is 1'. Draft with keel and rudder down is 4'.
Cabin: Raised flush deck gives the below deck volume of a 26' boat. Foward V berth for two and two quarter berths. If they had built a 26' version of this boat it would have been even better.
Construction: Fiberglass. Boat is intended as a bay sailor and can only be taken to windward offshore under fair conditions. Hull is not substantial enough to beat to weather when over 15 knots of wind. All gear and hardware on boat was high quality with the running rigging now just beggining to show need to replace parts after 26 years in service.
Handling: Boat sails very well and can be single handed easily. 6 hp outboart is more than adequate for auxiliary power.
Raised flush deck offers clean easy to move on deck with room for people to sit when at anchor. Boat is excellent for two not bad with three but begins to get crowded with 4.
Engine Room: 6 hp Johnson OBD with power prop and alternator. Long shaft is not required with original equipment motor bracket.
General Comments: I liked this boat enough to by two of them. 1st one was wrecked in a hurricane. Bought used one and rehabed it to replace the one lost.
