Boat Reviews By Owners

1999 -- 21' 0" RELEASE BACKCOUNTRY BOATS

Model:

Cockpit: This is a great do it all boat. We have used the boat for fishing and diving. It has a great set up for fishing. Big decks in the front and back. Fishes three very comfortably. A great design. You can get this boat and do A LOT with it.

Cabin:

Construction: Great hull. Never have had a problem with it. Like so many boat builders today they make a terrible access to the bilge pumps and engine well. A real pain in the ass to swap livewell or bilge pumps. Come on guys, make access to the most important part of the boat easy and adequate. The front live well leaks a lot when on plane.

Handling: Trim tabs are a must but the handling is good. She shines in a bay chop with a 15 knot wind. We used to take her diving on the reefs in the middle keys. (we upgraded to a sportfisher, and now use the release as an exclusive bay and flats boat) It is a great great riding boat for its type. It is too big to do any serious poling, at least for me. But if you really need to get up on the flat, you can. I use the trolling motor to fish canals and lake Ingram a lot.

Engine Room: 175 mercurey, Awesome engine, has never failed us. Top speed of 48mph. get there quick, fish long, get back quick. A bit of a gas hog though.

General Comments: I really love this boat despite its few flaws. If you need one boat for everything it does it very very well. Your not going to go out into the ocean in 5 foot waves(it is considered to be a flats boat) but on those two foot days those reefs are within reach.
