Boat Reviews By Owners
1999 -- 18' 0" MONTEREY
Model: 180 Montura
Cockpit: The cockpit is well laid out and very user friendly. I had no trouble finding a spot to "flush mount" install a vhf. Like the factory actually had some forethought.....
Cabin: open bow
Construction: This boat is solidly constructed. I have had her in some pretty rough water and not a single stress crack to be found. The floor doesn't give at all and no creaks or squeaks to be heard.
Handling: The only improvement needed was a fin for the cavitation plate. the boat didn't plane well at low speed. Now she will hold plane @ 2000 rpm as I ease around the island looking for a place to anchor. At full throttle she feels great, no wallowing or fishtailing and comes off throttle smoothly and stays pointed where she's steered.
Engine Room: Plenty of power for what we use it for. It pulls two tubes easily with4 more adults still in the boat. Had to install a fuel filter/ water seperator, I think the factory forgot and My carb got full of rusty trash. The strainers don't remove water let alone any thing smaller than a bb. After I opened up the carb I realized the factory's oversight
General Comments: Overall, I love this boat. Several Sea Ray owners have complimented us on the look of our Monterey. We use it mainly in Tampa Bay, so salt water has not been an issue. Just make sure to flush after using.........
