Boat Reviews By Owners

1998 -- 27' 4" PRO-LINE

Model: 251 Walk-around

Cockpit: Twin helm chairs with integral storage and tackle drawers. Fitted with full curtain package and dual wipers-excellent wx boat. Good vis. Lockable electronics box at helm. Lighted switches. comfortable

Cabin: Room for two with v-berth addition. You had better be close! Enclosed head. Refer and alcohol stove (optional). Good storage for a boat this size.

Construction: Solid. No problems in over 1600 hours of hard use. No wood construction, foam cored. Easy clean up!

Handling: Handles rougher conditions than I care to try and fish in! About 38 knots tops with 320 hp, cruises 25-28 knots. Tracks straight with duo-prop power. No chine walking, no nose steering. Will tend to porpoise at full throttle unless trimmed nose down. Good offshore boat with great range (170 gallon).

Engine Room: Originally with 7.4 Gi (310hp),seized at 1485 hours due to oil additive. Replaced with 5.7Gxi (320hp). Better fuel economy, better physical fit but 4 knots slower due to less torque available. I think a good compromise.

General Comments: The 251 is a great boat! The single I/O offers reduced maintenance and lower operating costs than twin outboards. I fish it 98 percent of the time. Fitted with radar, gps plotter, twin downriggers. Easily handled solo.
