Boat Reviews By Owners

1986 -- 27' 7" REGAL

Model: 277XL Commodore

Cockpit: Cockpit is a nice size, especially with the 'flip' seat. It will comfortably sit 6 people on the exisiting seats with room for more. Built in cooler under the rear seat is a nice addition. 360 deg. visiblity is great. The boat is not so much a fishing boat as it is a cruiser/family weekend getaway type.

Cabin: Cabin in very comfortable. It sleeps 5, but we sleep 4 adults comfortably for days at a time when we go to Fire Island. The overall layout is the best I've ever seen on a boat this size. Plenty of storage. The lighting is sufficient and actually quite nice at night.

Construction: Very solid hull and extra wide beam (10ft.) for a boat this length makes the boat extremely stable and easy to manuver at any speed.

Handling: The twin 4cyl. 190hp Merc I/O's push the boat along at around 23kts cruise with a top speed over 30kts. Gas mileage is GREAT for a boat this size. We primarily use the boat in the great south bay, but have taken her into the ocean with no troubles at all. Docking is an ease with the twin screws allowing us to get just about anywhere we need to be.

Engine Room: The twin 190hp, 4.3L 4cyl Mercruisers have no problem moving the boat along and getting her on plane even with a full load aboard. The trim tabs are a great extra that allow the boat to stay on plane even with the load not distributed evenly (people tend to hang in the back while underway).

General Comments: For an express boat in this size and style I dont think you could ask for more. The cabin gives the appearance of a salon with all needed items available and easily accessed (sink, stove, fridge, counter top, cabinets etc.).
