1984 -- 34' 9" ALLMAND
Model: 35 Tri-cabin
Cockpit: large cockpit seats 8 with full cushions, excellent visibility, winches close to helm, fold down table.
Cabin: Interior of a 40 ft. sailboat in 35 ft. Removable dining table converts to double berth, double aft cabin with hatch and 2 ports, v-berth with hatch and 2 ports, main cabin with hatch and 4 operable ports, easy engine access, only two steps up companionway to cockpit, L shape gally with two burner alc. stove and portable butane stove, deep icebox with shelf and A-B refrigeration, hot and cold water, lots of storage.
Construction: Quality hand laid fiberglass hull with Awl-grip to water line and barrier coat and CSC ablative coat new in 2004, New Navtec wire rigging in 1999, strong, fast long distance cruiser with molded in spray deflector and dodger with side handles, wide side decks with teak handrails.
Handling: Very comfortable and fast (6.5 knots)for cruising design with skeg mounted rudder and long fin keel. Tracks well and with autopilot is hands free.
Engine Room: 27 hp Yanmar 3GM diesel is bulletproof with Racor filter in addition to Yanmar filter. Very low consumption (less than 1/2 gal per hour) with fuel gauge.
General Comments: We wanted more room for grandchildren and moved up from 30 ft. Irwin and were amazed at how much better the Allmand sailed (faster, easier motion, more level underway (max 20 degree heel and only 10 deg. when take in one reef (has 2 reef points). Quality built and excellent as daysailer as well as for cruising.
