Boat Reviews By Owners

1998 -- 21' 6" AQUASPORT

Model: DC215

Cockpit: Lots of room. I often take 8-10 folks out for party cruises. Comfortable chair folds out to a bed for naps. Side console has useful basin and food fixing area

Cabin: I use the cuddy for gear stowage (took out the MSD). Installed a CD player in it. The boat has lots of cool lighting in the cabin, cuddy, livewell, bilge . .

Construction: Solidly built hull. Very happy with it overall. A few issues though: Fish boxes aft too small for serious gamefish (max 30 pounder). Large fuel tank (100 gal) but very difficult to repair if necessary. Bilge way too small, difficult to do anything in it. Eight gal water tank a nice feature but a little undersized. The pumps located in the bilge (fishboxes, shower, livewell, washdown) were factory installed too low. They were often submerged. I've had to replace them all and install new ones higher up. The scupper holes that drain into the engine well are too deep and are constantly lined with algae scum (I'm thinking about filling them in a little). The fishboxes never drained properly so I modified them so that they drain into the bilge.

Handling: Fairly deep V, handles 2-6' feet seas nicely. A sweet boat to drive. I've taken her 20 miles out in fishing tournaments, and felt comfortable

Engine Room: Came with a Johnson 175 (lemon, also was a little underpowered). Moved up to a 200 Yamaha SWS. Much better engine and matches the boat nicely. I get a top end of 38-40 mph with 50 gals in the tank, and 4 people aboard.

General Comments: Overall, this is a great boat. It handles seas very well. It is a useful dive-fish-party boat. I am aware that Aquasport has made several design improvements on this general model over the past few years that may take care of some of the minor issues mentioned above.
