Boat Reviews By Owners
1988 -- 18' 0" PRIVATEER
Model: Bay Prowler
Cockpit: I've enjoyed this boat immensely. The cockpit is roughly 72 sq ft, the helm visibility is great while seated. The wrap-around walkthrough windshield provides good protection from wind and waves.
Cabin: No cabin, dry storage provided in the small cuddy forward.
The seating arrangement works well with a single helm seat, a fold-out lounge, and two jump seats.
Construction: Privateers have a great following, mainly due to well built hulls. This boat planes easily, rides well in a variety of conditions, and is dry for an 18ft'er.
Handling: One tough boat, that's easy to trailer, and launch. Handles the Chesapeake Bay well.
Engine Room: This boat has a 1988 Evinrude 110hp outboard. More than enough power to get the boat on plane quickly, and get you to your fishing hole, tow a skier, or just cruise.
The power trim and tilt have been a plus, I've added a Sting Ray foil to the cavitation plate which improved the handling and ride dramatically in the chop.
General Comments: Despite her age, I'm very pleased with manufacturer support.
Any questions on hull construction or modifications are answered quickly, with detail.
