Boat Reviews By Owners
1977 -- 34' 0" SILVERTON
Model: sedan
Cockpit: the cockpit is huge at least 9'x8'
clear and unobstructed.
great for fishing 4 with plenty of room
Cabin: the spacious cabin is great for entertaining went the rain starts
the party moves from the dock to the
silverton with the dinette couch and
a fold out chair there is room for 8
the galley down is very servicable
lunch or dinner OR cooking up a big tuna dinner and serving every one on the dock . it has a two burner stove
alcohol or electric.
there is an inside helm which I never used and removed the wheel and controls
and that area now is home to the ice mach. I am 6'3" and the vee bunk has room for my wife,me and a 50lb dog
the head has a shower a sink and reserculating head in the same room
all and all a very large cabin for a
34footer there is also a hanging closet
and a set of four drawers which are
very usefull for that stuff that you want easy acess to
Construction: the windows and alum. frames are very good quality and with a little care and cleaning do not leak. this boat is solid frp construction hull and sides.
cored deck and cabin and gunnels
it is a production boat so there is some lack of attention to inner hull
finish. I have slamed it thru some large waves over the years with little stress cracking. mostly around the cockpit liner and some at the bow
over all a pretty solid crusier great for fishing or family outings.
Handling: the handling and performance are great
with a pair of 250hp she begins to plane
at about 1900 rpm and is in full plane
at 2100rpm with out the use of trim tabs
the vee hull makes for a relatively smooth ride easy to handle even in a following sea it will pull down a little as the waves catch up or you catch up to the next wave but there
is plenty of power at 3300rpm to keep
her running a straight path.
the cruise speed is about 16 to 18 kts.
Engine Room: there is a pair of 360 chrysler 250hp
engines pragon trans and vee drives
it seems to be very well balanced
with these engines and runs along strong. This is my third vee drive silverton each that I owned and ran for at least 5 years or more and the vee drives have never given me any trouble.
the engines are fresh water cooled.
a must for this type of engine.
with electronic ignitions they are easy to maintain
General Comments: this is a very good all round boat
confident runner even in sloppy seas
3to 4 footers. it is a stable platform
off shore for fishing and overnighters.
with room for 5 or 6 on the fly bridge
it a great party boat whether you sit at the dock or take the whole crew of 8
or 10 to the dock side restaurant which
we have done . I have always fished this boat. trolling for blues or tuna
bottom fishing for flounder or sea bass
or drift chumming for shark.
the atlantic ocean and the delaware bay
have been home to this Silverton 34
