Boat Reviews By Owners

2004 -- 24' 6" MONTEREY

Model: 245CR

Cockpit: Excellent. The deck will seat 9, but is very comfortable with 6. Seating is split between Port and Starboard. Inset for ice cooler on Port side. Most deck room for a 25 ft boat I have found.

Cabin: The cabin is very spacious for a 25 ft boat. I am 6 feet tall and can stand up in the cabin. I can not totally stand up in the head. It has an aft cabin that will handle two adults.

Construction: The boat weighs approximately 5800 lbs and is very solid.

Handling: It handles heavy chop on the river very, very, well.

Engine Room: My boat has a 5.0, 305CI, 260HP engine. With a full tank of gas ( 77 gal ), full tank of water ( 20 gal ), and 6 adults on board, it is very slow getting on plain. I think with the 305 engine the boat is underpowered. A friend of mine has the same boat with the 350 Mag, 300 HP engine, and it has plenty of power. I highly recommend the 350 Mag engine with this boat, unless you do not plan on carrying 6 adults on board. With no more than 4 adults, the 305 is perfect and gets great gas mileage. The 305 burns about 8 GPH, and the 350 Mag burns about 10 GPH.

General Comments: I use this boat in the St Johns River in Jacksonville, FL which gets very rough at times. It handles the rough water very, very well. It is the best handling, most comfortable, 25 foot boat I have ever been aboard.
