1987 -- 34' 3" VICTORIA BOATWORKS

Model: Victoria 34

Cockpit: Nice large cockpit accomidates wheel, great lazarette space, well protected with slightly raised combing (and good back support)

Cabin: Sleeps 4 (not 5 like they mention). I like the storage and galley, but some would want a rear cabin instead of the pilot berth. Much woodwork. Rather traditional, but not dark.

Construction: The best thing is that it appears the boat was built around the hull, which is extremely stable in a blow. Holds a point v. well with the extended fin.

Handling: Backs up like poo. Longer keel makes it less manueverable in crowded areas at slow speed. Under sail, it's a lot of fun. Responds well, though perhaps a bit undersailed on my boat. Easy to singlehand.

Engine Room: Yanmar 3 cyl. 30+hp. Works fine to drive the boat about 5.5k. Haven't pushed too hard. Not enough tankage water, or fuel for anything more than coastal cruising (though the V 34' has done a circumnavigation, and mine crossed the atlantic on it's own bottom

General Comments: Great coastal cruiser. Very solid, and quite beautiful. Handsome design (team trim and toerail) requires regular maintainence. Bluewater crossings may be limited due to tankage.
