1998 -- 26' 6" WORLD CAT
Model: 26.6 sc
Cockpit: Great visibility because the hull is semi-displacement. Very stable platform with lots of bow room to fish. It's also great for picnicing because it drafts only one foot.
Cabin: The cabin has a double berth but very little head room. Good for storage and an afternoon nap. Overnight would not be comfortable.
Construction: Very solid construction with no wood. I have had the boat for seven years and have one minor gel-coat crack. I had to replace the hatch pistons with stainless steel but everything else is high quality construction.
Handling: The best boat for the east coast offshore waters because the cat hull gives you a very soft ride. It steers and turns just like a car and you can dock the cat without using the wheel because the motors are set wide appart. It reacts like a twin inboard when docking. The only minor problem is when I fish for strippers at a very slow speed, in a head sea the cat will pound because there is no air under the hull.
Engine Room: The 130 four-stroke Honda's are great motors, quite and strong. I can cruse at 25 MPH and burn 8 gals a hour for each motor. Honda just informed me that they extended the power-head warrantee for 10 years because some of their motors had minor cracks in the casing.
General Comments: This is a very good choice for fisherman who like to fish in choppy conditions. The cabin is not for weekend getaways.
