Boat Reviews By Owners

2000 -- 18' 0" STINGRAY

Model: 180RX

Cockpit: Small bow rider that rated up to 7 persons. Comforable for 4. Helm and dash area a bit tight, as expected for a small boat. I have mounted a VHF, depth finder and small GPS unit and its tight. Controls and visabliity good. Came with car-stereo cassette that died and has been replaced with higher quality marine CD player unit.

Cabin: This is small bow rider. Nice feature is all the covered storage room around the engine. So much that I installed a porta potie in the stern.

Construction: We've had for 5 years and use on very rough water. Our boat takes a pounding every time we go out. Key components related to the hull and engine are top notch, but after 5 years the hinges for the sundeck, which is also the engine cover, came loose because of rusted non-stainless steel fasteners. Boat requires periodic tighening of screws and fasteners. Railings, seats, windshield need periodic tightening and some are hard to get to (like the bow rider railings).

Handling: Comforrable until the chop gets to about 18 inches. When the waves get to 2 feet it can pound, but it remains easy to control at all speeds.

Engine Room: This is a fast and efficient boat that can do 50 MPH with a 3.0 liter 135 HP Mercruiser and cruise forever on 20 gallons. Needs high octane fuel, but great gas mileage makes up for it.

General Comments: We tow it all over the country. We fish, waterski and picnic, and use as swim platform. It is small, but well built, fast, and easily trailered. I've had more trouble with the trailer than I've ever had with the boat. Great afordable boat for small family of 4 that likes day trips and speed.
