Boat Reviews By Owners

2001 -- 27' 0" WELLCRAFT

Model: Coastal 270

Cockpit: Large cockpit. Great for fishing. Large Livewell with light for night viewing. Seating is comfortable and abundant. Great for 3-4 people fishing. Ive had as many as 5 with me at the helm.

Cabin: Cabin is comfortable with 2 sleeping in bow and 2 in mid-berth. A little cramped with 4 people but doable.

Construction: A tough boat but did have some stress cracking at the stern. Design flaw with the I/O version (the one I have). Engine compartment cover allows sea mist to enter engine compartment causing rust on everything inside.

Handling: Boat handles like a dream. Wide beam-stable ride. You stay high and dry even in 4-5 foot seas. Top speed with I/O around 50 mph.

Engine Room: Volvo-Penta a great engine but with the rusting problem had to replace 6 starters in 8 months. Extended warrenty no help. Volvo Reps came and looked at the problem and determined it was the design flaw. (Wellcraft's Problem) not theirs.

General Comments: With the exception of the design flaw of the I/O cover this is a great fishing boat. The twin engine configeration would be great.
