Boat Reviews By Owners
2003 -- 20' 6" HYDRA SPORTS
Cockpit: Cockpit is huge for a small boat, partly because the cabin is smaller and partly because the beam is so large atg 8'9". Excellent for fishing with rodholders added to the spashwell board. Helm is tighter but serviceable.
Cabin: Cabin is basically for storage.
Construction: Gross construction is pretty good. Hull is solid. Fit and finish were so-so. Had some gelcoat problems and windshield glass separated from trim. Hatches (naturally) leaked, but silicone fixed that.
Handling: Boat is very seaworthy for its size. I've had some snotty trips (4-6'seas)and while it was no fun, I liked the way the boat handled it, and I felt safe. Stable at anchor b/c of beam.
Engine Room: Yamaha 2-stroke carburated. Runs like a top. No trouble at all. Max 38mph, best cruise (supposedly) 30mph@4000rpm. Rated for up to 200hp.
General Comments: I fish, clam, ski, and tube in Long Island Sound. Outstanding fishing/day cruising platform for the money and size. Very versatile and trailerable. Dealer plug: All Seasons Marine in Rowayton CT--they are a pleasure to deal with.
