Boat Reviews By Owners

2002 -- 21' 5" AQUASPORT

Model: 215 explorer

Cockpit: cockpit is large enough for two adults to fish comfortably. I don't like the fish boxes in the deck they have frequently filled with water while fishing in the delaware bay in the fall in rough water, they also don't completely empty because the drain is mounted about one inch above the bottom of the fish box.

Cabin: The cabin is big for this size boat but I've had problems with water leaks. Also the carpeting on the overheads is stained from the glue that was used. The table was not securely fastened which caused it to bounce around in rough water.I had to make several modifications and repairs.

Construction: overall poor construction with no attention to detail.poor fit and finish.Alot of gel coat crazing and some voids in the gel coat at the cabin entry which were repaired when new but now there are other areas with the same problem.Hardtop post is cracked.curtains fit very poorly.had to have new curtains made in first year.Anchor locker lid will open if you run in rough water.I had to add a lock to the lid to solve that problem.

Handling: Boat handles well in seas up to three feet after that stay home or fish in protected water.walkaround is designed to drain water overboard not into the cockpit which is a good feature and works well.

Engine Room: Boat is powered by a yamaha 150 two stroke which works well. Engine always starts easily and runs well. Has plenty of power even when boat is fully loaded with fuel (100 gallons)ice, fishing gear etc.Very fuel efficient also. Will definitely power my next boat boat with a yamaha.I've owned OMC and Mercury, but have had the consider the Yamaha the best by far.

General Comments: This boat is used primarily for fishing off the coast of New Jersey in the summer and Delaware bay in the fall.I really thought I did my homework before I bought it but I guess I didn't. This boat would do well in protected waters, but I would not reccomend it for offshore fishing. I realize you get what you pay for but I expected better quality from an established boat builder.I might mention this boat has only 100 hours on it and is not run hard but it just seems like it's falling apart.
